Cross-posting

Cross-posting is publishing one post to several networks at once. Good cross-posting adapts each version per network instead of blind copy-paste.

What is cross-posting?

Cross-posting is publishing one post to multiple social networks at the same time. You write it once, pick the accounts you want it on (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Threads, and the rest), and it goes out to all of them from a single action instead of you opening six apps.

The catch is that good cross-posting is not blind copy-paste. The same idea has to fit each network's format, caption length, and tone, or it looks broken: hashtags that read as spam on LinkedIn, a 280-character thought truncated mid-sentence on X, an image cropped wrong on Pinterest.

Why cross-posting matters

Almost nobody runs a single network anymore. The same announcement, tip, or behind-the-scenes clip belongs on five or six feeds, and retyping it for each one is the slowest part of a manager's week. Cross-posting collapses that into one draft, so you spend your time on the idea, not on the mechanics of repeating yourself.

It also keeps a brand consistent. When one source draft fans out everywhere, the message stays aligned across platforms instead of drifting as you rewrite from memory in each app.

What good cross-posting does

  • Adapts per network, not just copy-paste: trims the caption to X's limit, drops link-heavy CTAs on networks that bury links, swaps the aspect ratio per platform
  • Previews each version before it ships, so you catch the LinkedIn line break or the cropped Instagram image while you can still fix it
  • Lets you opt out per account: maybe this one is great for X and Threads but pointless on Pinterest, so you uncheck it
  • Keeps timing flexible: same post, but staggered to each network's best time to post instead of firing all at once

How TryPost handles cross-posting

In TryPost you write the post once, then pick which connected accounts it goes to. Those accounts are your social set: one account per network, all living inside a single workspace. The draft fans out to every account you select and lands in the same queue, so cross-posted versions schedule and publish together.

Before it ships, you get a per-network preview. The composer reformats the same post for each platform (caption length, line breaks, image crop, link placement) so you see exactly how the X version, the LinkedIn version, and the Instagram version each read. You can tweak any single version without breaking the others, and uncheck any account the post does not suit. One social set, one draft, many feeds, each one adapted instead of pasted.
